I work as a haematologist at the Flow Cytometry Laboratory at the Central University Hospital of Asturias in Oviedo, which acts as a reference centre for immunophenotypic studies for the Principate of Asturias. I focus on the comprehensive diagnosis and prognosis of various haematolymphoid diseases, including myeloid and lymphoid pathologies but solid tumours and classical haematology also have a place in our laboratory. Our laboratory has recently obtained an ISO 15189:2022 for the precursor stem cell count using flow cytometry and is currently pursuing to expand our accreditation portfolio.
Our laboratory has longstanding collaborations with various reference groups in the diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases, combining different approaches (cytological, phenotypic, genetic, and genomic), and with a special interest in the clonal architecture of the various haematolymphoid tumours and its importance for prognosis, monitoring, and targeted treatment.
